These two one-day courses focus on providing an introduction for adults who want to develop their knowledge of traditional skills.
Introduction to bushcraft ref. tr1
Spend a day with with experienced Go Wild Woodland Activity Leaders and learn how to make a shelter, build a fire, and cook traditional backwoods food on a wood fire.
Learn all about fire lighting without matches under expert supervision. Use flint & steel and bow drill to light your fire. Learn how to safely use a knife,* saw, and axe. Learn how to make feather stick kindling for your fire. Once your fire is lit let's make some twisters and learn backwoods cooking skills. Build a shelter from natural materials where you can eat your meal with your friends. Learn traditional outdoor skills. Find out about our 'Leave No Trace' policy and how to conserve our natural environment.

Basic Navigation Skills ref. tr2
By the end of this one day course you will be able to navigate a route using an Ordnance Survey map and a compass. Good navigation is all about knowing where you are on a map, where you want to go, and how you are going to get there safely.
You will learn about: - reading a map (really!) - grid references - taking a bearing - walking on a bearing - using a compass - Grid North, True North, and Magnetic North.
